Best Camera Phone in July 2026: Five Flagships Compared on the Data

As of July 2026. This post is a backfill dated 26 July 2026, and prices and availability may have changed since. We compare five flagships that work as a main camera: Vivo X300 Ultra, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Oppo Find X9 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. There are no measurements of our own here. Every figure comes from the spec sheets and reviews linked below, and anything we could not verify has been left out.

Camera hardware on the spec sheet

According to GSMArena's review of 30 April 2026, the Vivo X300 Ultra has a 200 MP main sensor (1/1.12 inch, f/1.9), a 200 MP telephoto with 3.7x optical zoom (85 mm, f/2.7) and a 50 MP ultrawide.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra has two 200 MP cameras, a main sensor (1/1.12 inch, f/1.5) and a 3x telephoto, according to heise on 21 April 2026. It adds a 50 MP periscope with 10x optical zoom (230 mm), a 50 MP ultrawide and a spectral sensor for white balance. A Hasselblad teleconverter with 300 mm is available as an accessory.

The GSMArena spec sheet lists the Xiaomi 17 Ultra with a 50 MP one-inch main sensor (f/1.7), a 200 MP periscope with continuous optical zoom from 3.2x to 4.3x and a 50 MP ultrawide.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 200 MP main sensor (f/1.4), a 10 MP 3x telephoto, a 50 MP 5x periscope and a 50 MP ultrawide, per its GSMArena spec sheet.

The Pixel 10 Pro XL gets by with a 50 MP main camera (f/1.7), a 48 MP 5x telephoto and a 48 MP ultrawide, according to its GSMArena spec sheet. It has the lowest sensor resolution of the group, and the sheet lists up to seven major Android updates.

Sources: GSMArena spec sheets and lab tests (Vivo, Xiaomi, Samsung, Pixel), heise (Oppo), as of July 2026. The Active Use Score is a standardised lab run of calls, web, video and gaming. It is not a measurement of everyday use.

Two caveats on battery. The Chinese Xiaomi 17 Ultra has 6,800 mAh and reached 21:29 h at GSMArena, while the global version scores lower. The European Vivo X300 Ultra is expected to carry about 100 mAh less than the Chinese one, per GSMArena on 31 March 2026. The lab test used the international unit, and GSMArena notes that European units ship without the 100 W charger.

What the reviews say about the cameras

On the Vivo X300 Ultra, GSMArena calls it "arguably one of the most complete camera phones ever made" and says it is undecided whether Oppo or Vivo has the better camera phone of the first half of 2026. Notebookcheck scores it 89 percent and lists colour accuracy, heat with processor throttling and high idle power draw as weaknesses. Colour values improved after an update on 15 May. On the plus side, GSMArena points to video features such as Dolby Vision and Log capture, strong stabilisation and IP68 and IP69 protection. Its drawbacks are the missing camera shutter key and somewhat soft portraits.

On the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, GSMArena's global-version review says it is "likely the best camera phone outside of China". It praises the main sensor and the telephoto across its whole zoom range, and criticises stabilisation while walking and an overloaded camera app.

On the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, GSMArena's review of 17 April 2026 calls it a "great all-rounder" with class-leading battery life. Its drawbacks are somewhat soft video, GPU stability under sustained load and the price.

For the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Pixel 10 Pro XL we have no camera review we opened. The spec sheets only show that Samsung has the widest aperture and four rear cameras, and Google the lowest resolution.

Prices

We can source prices for two devices only. Notebookcheck gives the Vivo X300 Ultra a recommended price of 1,999 euros for 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage. The Oppo Find X9 Ultra starts at 1,700 euros according to heise. For Xiaomi, Samsung and Google we have no sourced prices, so we give none. Anyone buying should check current retailer prices.

What this means for the choice

For photos and zoom, the reviews point to Vivo, Oppo or Xiaomi, and GSMArena places all three close together. The choice comes down to details: a dedicated 10x telephoto (Oppo), continuous zoom (Xiaomi), or a 200 MP telephoto with image processing that GSMArena describes as highly regarded (Vivo).

For long runtime, look at the Oppo first. The Vivo has a bigger cell than the Xiaomi but scored fewer hours in the lab. The Galaxy S26 Ultra and Pixel 10 Pro XL carry the smallest batteries of the group.

Before buying, check which version you are getting. Battery size, charger in the box and runtime differ between the Chinese and global models.
