Apple HomeView, HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K: prices, dates, not for the EU
On 13 October 2026 Apple introduced three devices for the home: HomeView, HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K. Heise describes HomeView in detail, MacRumors sums up the day with prices and dates. One point matters for readers in the EU: HomeView will not go on sale there at first.
HomeView in brief
HomeView comes as a stand model on a speaker base and as a wall model without the base, both with a square 7-inch display (1088 × 1088 pixels, up to 500 nits) and the A18 chip, the same as in the iPhone 16. There is a 12-megapixel camera with Center Stage, and speakers. On the stand model with the base Apple promises better sound than the HomePod mini; the wall model has only the two drivers in the display housing. Control is by Siri AI and touch. Built in are Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders and Find My. Several people in a household get their own home screens with apps and widgets. There is no App Store yet, and per heise the platform is closed to third-party apps. MacRumors says instead that HomeView runs third-party apps that run through a paired iPhone or iPad.
The wall model needs a mount that is not in the box. Schneider Home sells them: a USB-C Power Mount for $59.95, a wired AC version for $79.95 and a PoE version for $129.95 that only arrives in 2027.
The dates
HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K
The HomePod mini 2 costs $149, has an S10 chip, four speakers for surround sound and a new glowing top ("Sound Glow"). On Siri AI, MacRumors reports that the HomePod mini 2 does not support it at launch; support is to follow later. The Apple TV 4K with A19 and Wi-Fi 7 costs $299 in the 128 GB version, has far-field microphones for hands-free Siri and pairs with four HomePods for a surround setup. Older Apple TV 4K models are to get Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. The new Siri Remote costs $59.
Why not in the EU
Heise quotes Apple: Siri AI is currently not available under iOS in the EU, and Apple is working with the EU on a solution. Until then, HomeView is not sold there. Whether the other two devices appear in the EU, and with what feature set, is not in the sources we checked.
What stays open
Neither source mentions Matter or Thread for the new devices. Heise's only reference to home technology is HomeKit. Whether HomeView or the Apple TV 4K act as Thread border routers and bring Matter devices into the house is not stated in the reports. Anyone running Home Assistant or another hub can infer nothing about interoperability. Per heise the platform is closed to third-party apps for now (MacRumors describes apps via a paired iPhone or iPad), and heise suspects the name homeOS.
For the German-speaking market HomeView is not a purchase argument yet. An assessment is possible only once Apple names the radio standards and the EU question is settled. Until then these are a manufacturer's announcements, and we have tested none of the devices.
